ONE DAY ZONAL CONSULTATIONS ON NATIONAL GENDER ACTION PLAN FOR NIGERIA, SOUTH-EAST ZONAL CONSULTATION
UNDER THE PROJECT: CALL TO ACTION ON GENDER MAINSTREAMING IN CLIMATE
CHANGE ACTIONS IN NIGERIA
SUPPORTED BY BOTH ENDS UNDER ITS GLOBAL ALLIANCE FOR GREEN AND GENDER
ACTION (GAGGA) PROGRAM
HELD @ OSBORN LA-PALM ROYAL RESORT, OFF KPIRI-KPIRI ROAD, MILE 50 ABAKALIKI EBONYI STATE.
DATE 22ND November 2019.
Many people in Nigeria especially women continue to suffer negative effects of the environment ranging from water scarcity and pollution, unhealthy energy sources, lack of arable land or degraded lands, and climate change, that affect agricultural production.
Even though women suffer from
the negative effects of climate change and other environmental effects across
different sectors, decisions on these issues do not always deliberately involve
women and other vulnerable groups in the society such as the physically
challenged.
It is based on the above that
Both Ends under its Global Alliance for Green and Gender Action (GAGGA) is
supporting Women Environmental Programme (WEP) to implement a project titled:
“Call to Action on gender mainstreaming in climate change actions in Nigeria,”
which is aimed at promoting inclusion of women concerns in climate change
actions across different sectors in the country and involve them in planning
and implementation of climate change related actions.
Part of the activities under the project is to develop a Gender and Climate Change Action Plan for Nigeria
